To school your child at home, to "be in charge" of their day-to-day learning environment, several things have to be front and center in your point of view. One of the biggest: Life is messy. Always. Your goal is NOT to continually tidy up behind life but to keep your eyes open for the shiny/tasty bits that scatter from the inevitable mess. Pick up those bits, treasure them, and ponder why you've been gifted thus.
Another biggie to bear in mind: Learning happens whenever it happens, and not necessarily on schedule.
The above necessaries have as a prerequisite one of two things (or, in most cases, both): being (a) Super Duper Spiritual or (b) Pretty Damned Insane. Take your pick. Either way, your mind's on its way out the door.
